This is probably my least favourite track on the album (but really the only one I'm not lyrically happy with) because the story gets completely unrealistic here and the protagonist utterly blabbers on for half of a verse. Musically, I actually enjoy this track. The guitar reminds me of some Foo Fighters type stuff.

Story-wise, the protagonist is out after waking up to another empty bed, when they run into an old acquaintance. They spend the day together and because of the protagonist's mounting thoughts and hopes for a relationship, they begin to fantasize about the idea of it, but they don't want to at the same time because they think of it as nothing more than a default reaction out of desperation.

By the end of the day, it looks as if all hope is lost when the protagonist's friend expresses a desire to see them more, letting just a little bit of  hope swell up in the protagonist's chest.

About This Song:

[Lyrics]

Walkin' alone down the street today

I never expected to see such a beautiful face,

It so happens they walk up to me

And they ask me if I can remember their name

It takes a second but I've got it down

I just had to remember when they came around

An acquaintance of mine, not another runaway

I get my hopes up, and remember to say

"How are you? Hell it's been awhile

Since I've seen 'ya, you okay?

Have you kept' out of trouble?

I hear that things have been rough,

I'll take a load off your mind

Let's take a trip, grab a drink, talk and maybe unwind"

It ain't gon' hurt no one if we spend a day with eachother

I don't care if it happens that we end up together

Time for a break, c'mon

Let's take a load off our minds

And just relax, take a day and just spend some time.

Yeah let's spend some time

I sit and listen, you tell me that things have been crazy

Then it's my turn to tell you my side of the story

It's been a hell of a time since we last saw eachother

I'm thinkin', gettin' my hopes up, my heart's at the ready

I know it's silly to hold onto hope when it's really

A couple good friends just hanging around bein' silly

I guess as all of the weight's slidin' off of our shoulders

I'm feelin' lighter than air and it's makin' me nervous

Later that day as the sun's setting borders the skyline

I walk you home as the hope in my heart begins dyin'

That's when you look at me and pull a heart stopper

You tell me later on that you really wanna come over

I do a double take before I just laugh and I smile

I haven't had any friends come on by in awhile

I'm just surprised that you actually wanna come over

Even as I leave I can't stop lookin over my shoulder

It's a new day, new day, new day risin'

It's a new day, new day, new day risin'

It's a new day, new day, new day risin'

It's a new day, new day, new day risin'
