This album for the most part sticks to acoustic and electric guitar loops, and occasionally uses drums. From beginning to end it's intended to be a simple story. The protagonist is introduced right away; I tried not to use too many gender pronouns in the lyrics because I wanted it to be up to interpretation as to what gender the character is, though I think I did slip up on that a few times. The protagonist is the type of person who goes to bars and clubs to pick up dates, but is tired of shallow one night stands and is looking for a meaningful relationship. The problem is that they don't know any other way of really socializing. They're also a tad emotional about the subject, and bitter upon waking up alone to a bed that wasn't empty a few hours ago. Their previous vision of their lover in bed with them only a dream.
About This Song:
[Lyrics]
Wake up in the morning
The sunlight fills my eyes
The glowing rays against your face
Illuminate the skies
Last night was incredible
A beautiful surprise
The two of us entwined in love
Is the reason I'm alive.
I wake up in the morning
Light pierces my sight
Is it just me, or are you not there?
I hope I'm going blind
I don't know
Where else to go
I guess I'm not surprised
I should have known
Like everyone else
You'd leave me hangin' dry.
Ooh
Walkin down the lonely road
Try to forget about the last time
I had someone who gave a fuck
Though I guess technically I did last night
It seems like all anybody wants
Is to share a little piece of time
I'm growing tired of picking up
Anyone who wants a ride.
