The protagonist wakes up to find their lover next to them in bed, just as they wanted in the beginning and dreamt about. The end isn't always that different from the beginning, but it's always more rewarding when you've worked hard for that moment, and a single change can be the difference between despair and happiness. And so life goes on, and the protagonist rides off into the sunset.
