[Lyrics]

Oh no
It's time to teach you the truth
It's time to preach you some news

Hey son, it's a big world out there
But there's something you should really keep an eye on
It's called a heart and it's a part of you
But some people think that it's in the latest magazines
And some billboards on the scene and in makeup and CD's
And the bullshit that they feed but I know it isn't true
All the lies that they feed you
Doused and soaked in auto-tune
Kid, ya can't believe the masses
Their heads are in their asses

Let me tell you something
Pop is dead!
Kid, it's never been alive
It's been dead and not revived
It's changed so much with the times
That it's never had a chance
To establish a style
So don't walk a mile in their shoes

Hey son, you've got a real good chance
But there's something you should really keep your mind on
It's called your heart and it's a source of truth
But some people think that music is somethin' worth abusin
A fad that they can play with
And maybe they'll get famous
But they don't understand that a song is more then dancin'
It's sending a out a message to invoke an emotion
And sure, it's good to dance

But to really have a chance you better

Let me tell you something
Pop is dead!
'Cause in two or three years time
They won't be makin' headlines
So just remember kid
That pop is dead!
And it ain't worth bringin' back
So just keep your mind on track

Pop is dead
Pop is dead

Hey son, I'll teach you how to rock and roll
'Cause it's something you can really spend your time on
Write from your heart and let the good times roll
And when things are gettin' tough

Let the music pull you through
It's never easy to become a star
Lord knows that I ain't shinin' any brighter
Don't let them guide you or you'll fade away
You'll get through just fine without them,

You won't be burnin' out then

Yeah let me tell you something
Pop is dead!
It ain't even worth your time
And it's really such a crime
Don't need to tell you kid
That pop is dead!
Just let words flow from your heart
And you'll make a brand new start

About This Song:

I honestly wrote this song in an attempt to be ironic, since I really liked this guitar loop off of Looperman and wanted to use it, but it made me think of radio pop. What's funny (and also kind of ironic) is the fact that I didn't really understand what pop was at the time. I made an anti-pop song when everything I create now is ostensibly pop music.

This song was a lot of fun though. Could have used some bass, but that's true for this whole album.
