About This Song:
[Lyrics]
Left alone
In an empty room
About to break
About to lose it all
I've been here before
My heart has stopped
My wrists won't bleed
The feeling's gone
And I can't see at all
I've been here before
Sometimes it's hard to stay alive
In a world so cold and undecided
That you don't want to live in it anymore
Hanging on, by a thread
A feeling I have come to dread
But it gets me through another day
I see the knife
It's in my grasp
It's just so hard to hold it back
I've been here before
Inside my dreams
I hear the screaming
It hurts so much my ears are bleeding
I've been here before
Left alone
In an empty room
About to break
About to lose it all
You've been there before
You're not alone
We all bleed
And this world is cold
But understand you're not alone
And just hang on
Hanging by a thread is better
Better than nothing at all
It happens to the best of us
We all get sick and tired of this life
You're not alone
Promise me you won't let go
I couldn't stand to see you fall
You're not alone
This song is one of the oldest ones I've written (I think I wrote this back in 2007) and was for/about a friend who had problems with cutting and bouts with suicidal thoughts. It's cheesy as hell in retrospect, but sometimes a direct message like this is what a person needs, so that's what it was. The guitar loop (yes, the only other bit of instrumentation in the song >_>) came from the long since defunct Splice Music. It's not even being played in time, but I almost feel like it lends to the feel of what I was trying to go for with the song, in a way. I tried at least doing a few different things with the vocals to give the song some semblance of variety. Enjoy.
