About This Song:
Black Hole Heart
[Lyrics]
Falling like a hurricane rain,
I can feel it coming down
Silence never felt so haunting,
Gotta remember that breath is a sound
I don't think I'm new
To this sort of feeling
I'm hoping that it's true
Because it feels kinda like I'm reeling
Close to the edge
And what with you got inside,
It's almost like everything else doesn't matter
And I know that what you got's
Really the hidden magnet drawing me nearer
A pair of paradoxes ready to collide,
I ain't ready yet
And with a bang, the silence is broken,
No, I'm not ready yet
Things tend to get absorbed,
Only to disappear
Got a black hole heart,
So tired of tasting fear
I don't know whats out there,
On the other side
Got a black hole heart,
And not a whole lot of pride
Falling like a hurricane rain,
I can feel it coming down
Keep asking questions in my head,
But ain't no answers comin' around
I don't think that I'm used to
This sort of feeling
I'm hoping that it's true
Because it means that I'm healing
Bring it back
Never thought that things
Were ever gonna get this way,
No matter how much I tried to convince you
In the end I couldn't get you to stay,
I guess I gotta get used to being on my own again,
I ain't ready yet
Living a life without you in it, please,
I ain't ready yet
Things tend to get absorbed,
Only to disappear
Got a black hole heart,
So tired of tasting fear
I don't know whats out there,
On the other side
Got a black hole heart,
And not a whole lot of pride

Black Hole Heart started out as a different song than how it turned out. The first verse had different lyrics with a different meaning. Eventually they were changed into this format, and I feel that they're less crass,
In both iterations, it started out being about a girl I had a crush on. I wrote the first verse and a half of the song, and then asked my good friend Kaitlin if she'd like to try her hand at a second verse, either from scratch or continuing off of what I had.
The second verse starts out being about me coming to terms with my previous failed relationship, but I think it was slightly mis-interpreted, and Kaitlin's verse ends up bringing the song to a close in the vein of a breakup song. And ultimately, I like it, because it gives the song as a whole a completely different feel. If you look at the way the lyrics progress, it tells a story from beginning to end.
No matter how you or I choose to interpret its meaning, I'm really proud of this as my first writing collab, and I'd love to work with Kaitlin again. I would like to re-visit it with better mixing & gear.
