About This Song:

Bed Of Nails

(ft. Kaitlin MacDonald)

[Lyrics]

My lonliness is overflowing

It starts on the inside and works its way out

Once emptied out, the basin starts refilling

A world anarchaic leaves no room for doubt

And this is the bed I've made

I'm laying as the tide's flowing out

I rest in my cold bed of nails

Close my eyes as the lid's slowly shut

An end to the journey has its own beginning

I hope when I get there, there's no words unsaid

The events of the day seem at best unfulfilling

Lost in deep contemplation as I rest my head

And this is the bed I've made

I'm laying as the tide's flowing out

I rest in my cold bed of nails

Close my eyes as the lid's slowly shut

I hold the torch as the light goes off,

And I hold my words as the fight goes on,

And I covet my pain in a world so cold

That a bed of nails can make it feel like home

I follow my heart as the gray turns black

And I follow the road as it circles right back

And I covet my pain in a world so cold

That a bed of nails can make it feel like home

And this is the bed I've made

I'm laying as the tide's flowing out

I rest in my cold bed of nails

Close my eyes as the lid's slowly shut

I hold the torch as the lights go off

(I rest in my cold bed of nails)

And I hold my words as the fight goes on

(Close my eyes as the lid's slowly shut)

And I covet my pain in a world so cold

(I rest in my cold bed of nails)

That a bed of nails can make it feel like home

(Close my eyes as the lid's slowly shut)

Yeah, a bed of nails can make it feel like home

Feel like home

Bed of Nails is one of the older sets of lyrics on the album, and one of the only songs that I don't honestly remember the meaning of. Most likely, it's about wanting to break out of the monotonous cycle that I had started to find myself in, working every day and not doing much else or having any kind of life in general. How I worked so hard to find a job to sustain myself and how that job began to consume my life and take over other aspects of it. When I acknowledged it, I realized I needed to begin taking steps toward a better future for myself, and somewhere in there, I wrote this song and a few others.

Musically, this is another tune that takes its inspiration from the works of Linkin Park. I'm super happy with how it turned out and I owe Kaitlin MacDonald a big "thank you" once again for lending her excellent vocals to this track! Enjoy!
