About This Song:

[Lyrics]

I flip through old photograps and writings

And I start to wonder when it is we slipped

We've both been on the same track

For a pretty long time

And it's funny

To see how we have changed,

But it's sad how we've stayed the same

And I don't get

How we could have been so careless

Just to take it all for granted

Or was that just me?

Slowly, I start to see

We didn't have troubles as compared to now

And everything feels less, somehow

We

Are really too dependant

'Cause the lot of us are so alike

Not free

But not any one of us would know just what to do,

If we were free

And we've been speedballing

Heading down a long and winding road

That split somewhere along the way

I hope that all of us can find a shoulder

We can lean on

And now it's changing

Life is pressing down on me

Pushing all the air out from my lungs

And, hey, our paths will find a way to converge

Somewhere along this long and twisted way

So don't change

I know that life is giving us the same,

Culminating from the blood we gave

Yeah

Oooh, oooh

It's true

Life is weird, and fate is cruel

But you will always see it through

You'll never be alone

So,

We're like a family divided

When I take a look inside it feels cold

I've got a heavy heart

That's darkening with frostbite

But you make it warm

And the both of you are close to me,

Despite the distance

I guess I'm just sore

Because I've got a lonely symbiotic,

Outsourced, and platonic atrium

Yeah

I guess it's more than a little rare

We all got a price to pay,

And we can't always share

Oooh, oooh

It's true

Life is weird, and fate is cruel

But you will always see it through

You'll never be alone

Oooh, oooh

It's true

Life is weird, and fate is cruel

But you will always see it through

You'll never be alone

You'll never be alone

You'll never be alone

You'll never be alone

You'll never be alone

Atrium is a song written to two of my best friends, (one of whom is the production consultant from my last two albums). When I wrote this, they were in a precarious position and we had very little contact with each other. We're all friends who met over the internet and had been used to talking to each other every day.

I got depressed about it as I often do, but they were doing something they needed to do for themselves, so this me telling them they had my support as a friend and that I wished them the best. Hard to believe that this song is almost 2 years old now. Thanks to Kaitlin MacDonald for lending her lovely vocals during the chorus! Oh, and musically, it takes a little bit of inspiration from Our Lady Peace's "Happiness..." record, and the song Potato Girl.

P.S. Proud of the ridiculous lyric that the song takes its name from. :P
