About This Song:
The End
[Lyrics]
Send away for a priceless gift
One not subtle, one not on the list
Send away for a perfect world
One not simply so absurd
In these times of doing what you're told
Keep these secrets, no one knows
What ever happened, to the young man's heart?
Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart
Now I'm staring down the barrel of a .45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
No real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a .45
Send a message to the unborn child
Keep your eyes open for awhile
In a box high up on a shelf
Meant for you, no one else
There's a piece of a puzzle known as life
Wrapped in guilt and sealed up tight
What ever happened, to the young man's heart?
Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart
Now I'm staring down the barrel of a .45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
No real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a .45
Everyone's pointing their fingers
Always condemning me
Nobody knows what I believe
I believe
Now I'm staring down the barrel of a .45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
No real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a .45
And I'm staring down the barrel of a .45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
There is no real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a .45
.45
IIIIIIIt's a cover. Yep. Covers are something I enjoy doing, but hopefully there's never another instance where I put a karaoke track on an album again. And by that I mean a literal pre-made karaoke track with backing vocals.
The song resonated with me at the time and I really wanted to cover it since I felt it fit with whatever mood I was hoping to create with the album. Since I couldn't hit the high notes in the chorus, even with the song pitched down, I decided to use harmonies to try and differentiate it a bit from the original and bring it into my more limited vocal range.
